From a flat black ceiling rose thirteen slim rods run downwards on this Casa Padrino pendant lamp, each one a different length. At the end of every rod sits a clear glass ball with the light source at its centre.

Because the rods reach down to different depths the balls arrange themselves into a loose cluster: denser in the middle, airier at the edge. Seen from below a small starry sky stands in the room, seen from the side a floating volume that leaves the wall behind it free.

The clear glass distracts from nothing, it shows the bulbs openly. Warm white bulbs with a visible filament give a very calm, amber light; with clear LEDs the lamp looks cooler and more technical.

At 66 cm in diameter and 95 cm overall height it stands well above a dining table, a kitchen island or in a stairwell where it is seen across two floors. At 5.2 kg it is remarkably light for its size.
